Dr. Ezra Cohen has been practicing Optometry for over thirty years. After graduating Brooklyn College, he attended Illinois College of Optometry. He has participated in an externship program at The Lighthouse for the Blind in New York, receiving an advanced certificate in Low Vision Care. Dr. Cohen also attended an externship in Vision Therapy in State University of New York College of Optometry. His first private practice opened at 154 Avenue T, Brooklyn, New York. During the early years of the practice, Dr. Cohen had the opportunity to be an associate of Dr. Melvin Rothberger  M.D., a well regarded Ophthalmologist known for his excellent surgical skills. A second practice, located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, was opened several years later. A third location was opened in 1984, in partnership with Dr. Henry Azrikan, in the heart of Coney Island, Brooklyn. Dr. Cohen has recently moved his main office, Sunsation Eyewear, to spacious quarters at 341 Kings Hwy Brooklyn, NY 11223. The modern boutique atmosphere is enhanced by the extensive line of designer eyewear and sunwear that are showcased. Having been in practice since 1980, Dr. Cohen has built a loyal client base, even treating second and third generation members of the same family. He is blessed with a loving wife and four sons, who are very supportive of his profession. Two of his children have chosen career paths in vision care and eyewear manufacturing. Dr. Ezra Cohen offers comprehensive eye examinations for adult and pediatric patients.  He evaluates eye health, as well as eyeglass prescriptions. Glaucoma, retinal evaluation, diabetes screening and blood pressure are standard parts of his exam. Specialty contact lenses and hard to fit cases are welcomed. He also consults with LASIK  patients; having had the LASIK  procedure in 1999, he can attest personally to the remarkable results. Dr. Cohen is proud to add Dr. Kara Pasner-Cohen to his team, a Low Vision Specialist with advanced certification. For patients with macular degeneration, she offers many options to enhance the sight of partially sighted individual. Dr. Haim Cohen graduated from Brooklyn College in 2006. He continued his training at Pennsylvania College of Optometry and obtained his degree of optometric medicine in 2012. Dr. Cohen has had extensive training in pediatric vision including clinical externships in ocular disease at the prestigious Omni Eye Physicians, Brooklyn Veteran Affairs Hospital & Feinbloom Low Vision Clinic. Dr. Cohen has been in private practice in Howell,New Jersey since 2012.
