As spring arrives, so do seasonal allergies—and for many, that means uncomfortable itchy, red, and watery eyes. But you don’t have to suffer through allergy season.
Allergens like pollen, dust, and pet dander can trigger eye irritation, leading to:
• Redness and swelling
• Watery, teary eyes
• Itching and burning sensation
• Increased sensitivity to light
• Wear sunglasses to reduce exposure to airborne allergens
• Use daily disposable contact lenses to avoid buildup
• Rinse eyes with preservative-free artificial tears
• Book an eye exam to discuss allergy-friendly treatments
Don’t let allergies ruin your spring. Find relief and keep your eyes happy this season.
Dr. Bjork received his undergraduate degree in Vision Science from Ferris State University. He earned his Doctoral degree from the Michigan College of Optometry, where he graduated first in his class. He then elected to complete an additional year of Residency training in Ocular Disease at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Bjork joined Middletown Eye Care and continued to work at the Cincinnati Eye Institute in the Retina Clinic for fifteen years. “I am thankful to have had the opportunity to gain the clinical skill and knowledge to manage patients with complex retinal problems. There are many systemic medical problems that can manifest in the retina which is why it is the most interesting and complex part of the eye. That’s also why it has always been my passion.” Dr. Bjork is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. He also holds clinical privileges at Atrium Medical Center. He has achieved Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.
Following graduation from Springboro High School, Dr. Fisher attended The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After a brief career as a microbiologist, Dr. Fisher decided to return to school to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University. "I've always enjoyed working and communicating with people. Optometry gives me the opportunity to help improve the vision of others and have a positive impact on their lives." She has been recognized with several awards for both academic and clinical excellence. She was awarded the J. Pat Cummings Scholarship for demonstrating the ideal eye care standards of practice; the Ohio Optometric Foundation Scholarship; and the John F. Schuller Scholarship for her commitment to community service and her work with visually impaired and developmentally disabled individuals. Dr. Fisher is excited to return to this community and provide care. She has a special interest in Pediatric care. "Many children have vision issues that go unnoticed and can impact their performance in school if left untreated. The American Optometric Association estimates that one in four children has a vision related problem that affects their ability to recognize, comprehend and retain information. Being able to ensure the kids in this community are not limited by their vision is the most rewarding part of optometry." She is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.
