Growing up in Markham, Ontario, Dr. Tai was always fascinated by the tools used in an eye exam. After shadowing optometrists, he was driven to pursue eye care and studied at The University of Waterloo for three years before successfully applying for early admission with a four-year scholarship offer to The Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. His training there focused on custom contact lenses at The Cornea and Contact Lens Institute of Minnesota, eye disease at Mid Florida Eye Center and The Tomah VA, and management of the visually impaired at the Illinois Eye Institute. After graduating with honours, he completed his Residency at The Indiana University, where he furthered his training on dry eye, cataract surgery post-operative care, custom contact lenses, and myopia control. From there, Dr. Tai joined the 20/20 Institute, where he performed post-operative care for LASIK, PRK and KAMRA procedures and later had the PRK surgery himself! He also practiced at The Allisonville Eye Care Centre, treating dry eye and performing myopia control. Dr. Tai speaks basic Cantonese and Mandarin. In his spare time, Dr. Tai loves to cook, read, work out and travel with his fiancé.
