Scleral lenses are a type of contact lens that covers the entire cornea and rests on the white part of the eye (sclera). They’re larger in diameter than regular contact lenses and are filled with a non-preserved saline solution. The saline fills the space between the lens and the cornea, which helps to keep the lens in place and prevents it from drying out.
Scleral lenses are often used to correct vision problems that can't be corrected with regular contact lenses or glasses, such as keratoconus, which causes the cornea to bulge and severe astigmatism. They also benefit people with other types of corneal aberrations.

Christopher M. Inclima, OD
Dr. Christopher Inclima is a highly respected and accomplished eye care professional with over three decades of experience in the field. Born and raised in Orange, Connecticut, Dr. Inclima's journey in eye care began at the prestigious Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. Inclima was certified as an Advanced Practice Optometrist in 1996 and became a Diplomate in Glaucoma in the same year. His commitment to eye care advancements led him to complete a course in Laser Therapy for the Anterior Segment in 2018. Dr. Inclima has been an active member of the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control.
Motivated by his desire to enhance the lives of his patients, Dr. Inclima is particularly passionate about myopia management and orthokeratology. He is one of the few optometrists in the state certified to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism using the non-surgical gentle vision shaping/corneal reshaping system.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Inclima is deeply involved in community service. As a member of the Rotary Club of West Haven, CT, he has participated in numerous local and international service projects. He has also contributed to the Vision U.S.A. program, offering free eye examinations to low-income individuals without insurance.
Dr. Inclima cherishes his family life, being happily married for 25 years with a son and two daughters, alongside their two Shih-Tzu dogs. His hobbies include golf, reading, and following health, history, and sports topics. Dr. Inclima is also a supporter of Villanova basketball and the New York Mets.
Chiamaka Ibeh, OD
Dr. Chiamaka Ibeh is an intern optometrist at Inclima Eye Care, where she brings her passion for eye care to every patient she encounters. With a strong interest in improving people's lives by correcting vision, Dr. Ibeh is committed to providing high-quality care.
Working alongside Dr. Christopher Inclima, she admires Dr. Inclima's expertise and leadership, which have significantly influenced her professional development. She values the practice's vision, which aligns with her desire to make a meaningful impact in the eye care industry.
Beyond her responsibilities at the practice, Dr. Ibeh is actively involved in community service. She volunteers for The Greater New Haven food distribution events and the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, reflecting her commitment to giving back and helping those in need.
Though Dr. Ibeh's immediate family resides in Nigeria, she considers Inclima Eye Care her second family. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Ibeh enjoys dancing, watching movies, and surfing the internet.
Alphonse A. Inclima, OD
Honoring Dr. Alphonse Inclima: A Legacy of Visionary Care
Dr. Alphonse Inclima, a distinguished figure in optometry, retired in 2023 after a remarkable career dedicated to eye care. His journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York, followed by earning his Doctorate of Optometry from the Massachusetts College of Optometry. Dr. Inclima was a trailblazer in Connecticut, being among the first optometrists in the state granted privileges to treat and manage eye diseases with medications.
His expertise in glaucoma treatment was further recognized with a diploma from the State University of New York College of Optometry. A respected leader, Dr. Inclima served as president of the Connecticut Association of Optometrists and has made lasting contributions as chair of the board of ethics committee. Notably, he was one of the few optometrists in Connecticut trained in gentle vision shaping/corneal shaping, offering a non-surgical solution to correct nearsightedness and a proud graduate of the Gesell Institute of Child Development.
Dr. Alphonse Inclima’s foundational role in establishing Inclima Eye Care has left a mark on the practice and its community. His dedication to excellence, innovation, and patient care continues to inspire the practice's direction under Dr. Christopher Inclima.
