AdobeStock 221688878 Expect at Your Appointment BlogAt Beltline Vision Clinic, we want every patient to feel comfortable and confident when visiting us. If it’s your first time at our office or you’re wondering what to bring for your appointment, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Before Your Appointment

To ensure a quick and efficient visit, we recommend that patients:

  • Arrive 10 minutes early – This gives you time to check in and complete any remaining paperwork.
  • Bring your ID and insurance information – This helps us verify your coverage before your exam.
  • Fill out new patient forms online – If you prefer, you can complete your forms in advance on our website to save time in-office.

Do you wear glasses or contacts? While it’s not required, bringing your current eyewear can help us evaluate your prescription needs.

What Happens During Your Eye Exam?

Your comprehensive eye exam includes a series of tests designed to check your vision and eye health.

Pre-Test Evaluations – We start with a few simple screening tests, including:

  • Glaucoma test (eye pressure check)
  • Refraction test to assess prescription needs
  • Visual acuity test to measure how well you see at various distances

Eye Examination with Dr. Smith – Once the initial tests are complete, you’ll meet with Dr. Smith, who will:

  • Perform a detailed eye health evaluation
  • Check for signs of eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
  • Dilate your pupils if necessary for a more thorough eye health assessment

Discussing Your Eye Care Needs – Based on your exam results, Dr. Smith will:

  • Review your prescription and eye health
  • Discuss options if glasses or contact lenses are needed
  • Recommend any treatments or follow-ups
