Dr. James Prate has been practicing in the same location, in Gloucester Township, for over 35 years. Dr. Prate attended Rutgers University and graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After graduation he attended the Optometric Center of New York, where he completed a residency in Visual Training, working with children.
Dr. Prate is dedicated to providing the highest level of eyecare and has a strong sense of community service. He provides quality eye care to assisted living facilities in the area. He has participated in medical missionary trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Prate is licensed in the state of New Jersey for the treatment and management of eye disease. He also co-manages laser vision surgery.
Dr. Prate is an active sports enthusiast. This is reflected in his office by having the finest selection of sports and safety frames. He also provides contact lenses for sports. Dr. Prate is an avid golfer and a member of Valleybrook Country Club.
Dr. Brett Prate graduated with clinical honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He completed his externship in Ocular Disease at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Prate is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. He also has a background in research, where he was awarded a state funded grant for his work on "The Effect of Nitric Oxide in Neovascular Glaucoma in Diabetic Rats."
Dr. Prate has traveled on medical missionaries to third world countries with the group Healing the Children, where he treated eye diseases and provided glasses to impoverished children. He often provides free vision and glaucoma screenings to the local community, in an effort to increase public awareness of eye related health issues.
Dr. Prate frequently gives public presentations on topics such as "Cataract Awareness Month" and "Nutrition for Age-Related Macular Degeneration."
Meet Dr. Briana Grimaldi, a native of Ringwood, New Jersey. She graduated with summa cum laude honors from Stockton University and completed her doctorate from PCO at Salus University. Dr. Grimaldi is an active member of the American Optometric Association and has made significant contributions to the field, including a featured article in Modern Optometry.
Her professional journey began at a bustling ophthalmology practice, where she honed her skills in specialties such as pediatric eye care, specialty contact lenses, ocular disease, myopia control, and low vision. Driven by a genuine passion for making a difference, she finds fulfillment in giving children their first pair of glasses and helping people with visual impairments see the things they love.
Beyond managing eye health, Dr. Grimaldi engages in community outreach and shares her life with Izzy, a delightful blue-eyed corgi. Balancing her commitment to her patients' well-being with a vibrant personal life, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, crafting, and quality family time.
Dr. Michelle Prate is an associate at Prate Family Eye Care. After completing her undergraduate studies in biology at Villanova University, she graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She completed her externship at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia. She also completed an externship in Ocular Disease at Burlington County Eye Physicians.
In addition to working at Prate Family Eye Care, she visits nursing homes around the area, to provide care for those who are unable to travel to doctor's offices. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.
